“ Excellent service, amazing food! I always have group gatherings here, highly recommended ”
“ House of Gourmet is an excellent spot to order delivery from. Each time I order, everything arrives very carefully packed and still hot. Their beef tenderloin in sweet and sour sauce is the perfect blend of sweet, sour, and savoury. The beef is also the most tender I have ever had from a delivery restaurant. Nothing I have ordered here has been bad, so you are sure to find something you enjoy. ”
“ I found out that House of Gourmet is one of Simu Liu's favorite restaurants in Toronto, so naturally, my mom and I had to check it out. And honestly? We totally get it! We loved it so much we ended up coming back the very next weekend. We tried their $12.99 lunch special. You get to pick from three options: Option A is usually classic HK café comfort food, Option B has HK BBQ combos, and Option C is all about noodles. Each meal also comes with soup and a hot drink, which is honestly such a steal in today's economy. On our first visit (a Saturday), we tried the BBQ pork, and wow--it was so tender and flavorful without being overly sweet like some other HK BBQ places. The next weekend, we came back and tried their wontons. They were big and stuffed with shrimp, but I did notice the shrimp-to-pork ratio was a bit off (definitely more shrimp), so they were softer than I expected. Overall, it's easy to see why this place is such a favorite. The food is comforting, affordable, and just hits the spot. Next time you find yourself near Chinatown, this place should definitely be on your list! ”
“ Took the family to Toronto, and while they were on a food tour, I decided to grab a quick meal at House of Gourmet. I noticed a group of bicycle delivery drivers outside and asked them which restaurant they get the most orders from--they all pointed me here. On a cold winter day, nothing beats a warm bowl of soup, so I went with the clams, mustard greens, and salted egg congee. Added a touch of hot oil for some heat, and wow--it was incredible! The place was packed with locals, clearly a favorite spot. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you're in the area! ”
“ I came here twice during my trip to Toronto for their Shrimp Wonton with Egg Noodle in Soup ($10.99). The wonton here are huge, bouncy and juicy. They give you 5 per bowl, so I shared it with my husband. The egg noodles are cooked to perfectly al dente and have such a satisfying chew to them. We also ordered a beef chow fun and beef brisket with egg noodles. Both of these were good, but I would stick to the wonton with egg noodle. Delicious food at an absolute steal of a price. Honestly a great spot if you just want to sit, snack a bit and drink some tea as a quick break before hitting the road again. ”
“ 11 years after my first review. It's still here. It's still good and it's still busy. Congee, Delicious Pork and Eggplant and other standouts. Its always busy in here and service is quick quick quick. Its a mix of locals, tourists, night club people late and all kinds. A Chinatown institution. ”
